Hello
I am a scholar-educator-practitioner trained in Communication, English and Rhetoric, and Digital Media with a focus on justice-oriented research, multimodal pedagogy, and community-engaged storytelling. With a Ph.D. in progress from North Carolina State University, my research spans digital media, critical disability studies, and reproductive justice, where I investigate how marginalized individuals navigate public visibility in digital spaces. My current work explores social media narratives of disabled, trans, and formerly incarcerated individuals, specifically their experiences with pregnancy and how these stories shape public perceptions of parental fitness.
Beyond my scholarly, teaching, and working identity, I’m a book lover who reads a new one each week, and my favorite get-together is my book club. When I’m not lost in a good read, you can find me as an avid pet mom, always adding a new critter to the family—October’s my favorite month for that (birthday adoption tradition!). My favorite thing to do is to take my dogs on their daily walk to the P-A-R-K (and yes, I really do have to spell that out near them). I’m also an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking with my husband, skiing, and exploring nature. I also enjoy a leisurely day at farmers' markets or supporting local coffee shops and boutiques. I’ve traveled extensively and thrive on immersing myself in different cultures, learning local traditions, and embracing new experiences wherever I go.
